Zwei neue Baobab-Filme

In 2024, students of the Baobab School for Trade and Traditional Arts in Kisi/Kwahinkrom in the Central Region of Ghana produced the movie „Plastic Village“. It aims to educate about the health risks of plastic and to show strategies to defend oneself and one’s family. The plot, which was developed by the students themselves shows an imaginary Ghanaian village called „Asempa Village“ whose inhabitants are greatly suffering from the effects of plastic pollution. They learn about the problems of plastic and find solutions for themselves. By working together and changing their way of life, they are able to make a change for themselves. As you may notice, the acting is primarily in Fante, which is a local dialect widely spoken in different regions of Ghana. By speaking their mother language the students can express themselves stronger and deliver their message to the target group: communities and individuals in Ghana. Of course we want as many people as possible to enjoy our movie, which is why we have tried to provide English subtitles.
