At Baobab we are very concerned with protecting the environment. Discarded plastic, especially water sachets, and broken bottles are a menace to humans and wildlife alike. We take the plastic and the glass and use them to create beautifully crafted products.
Bags – we have a variety of purses and bags made from ‘nsu’ (water) sachets. We combine our own kente and batik fabrics with the used plastic to sew imaginative recycled accessories.
Beads – glass bead making has a long history in Ghana, going back to the 12th century.
Most beads are now made using recycled glass which is ground up and fired in moulds. Beads can be one colour or hand-painted with intricate designs. We produce both individual beads as well as jewellery.
